Hello friends,
Sometimes its is hard to choose a favourite colour – I like to work with blue, ivory and cream and all the autumn colours. This week’s challenge at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog is to use the colour green and I decided to give it a go. I chose this adorable Penny Black bunny sitting in a lettuce (or cabbage?) watching the playful butterflies – he really looks at home! This image reminds me of a Beatrix Potter character. I also took out my sewing machine (haven’t used it in years so at first a huge search for the machine oil to get all those parts running smoothly again) to do the stitching instead of the easy way of faux stitching with a pen. The tension still needs adjustment to sew paper but I liked the shabby way of the stitches on this card. This effort was worthwhile as I discovered that at Sundays with Chrissy Challenge they want to see stitching on a card. The tag is a Marianne Design Creatables die recently purchased at the Hobby X show in Johannesburg. For South African crafters Country Crafts in Randpark Ridge stock a variety of Marianne Design, Joy Craft and Nellie Snellen dies in their online shop.
Hope you like the card. I entered my butterfly bunny at the following challenges:
- Penny Black Saturday Challenge Week 142 (ends 03/19) – Green
- Sundays with Chrissy #15 (ends 03/31) – Stitching
- Card Makin Mamas Challenge #16 (ends 03/18) – Something Green

- Delicious Doodles Challenge #16 (ends 03/17) – Use Green for Saint Patrick’s Day
- Sentimental Sundays #46 (ends 03/19) – Let’s Go Green (the sentiment is on the inside, 2nd photo)
To match the outside I decorated the inside with the same tag and a Lili of the Valley sentiment:

- Lili of the Valley Calender and sentiment stamp

- Marianne Design Creatables die

Oh my Amelia, this is stunning with so much beautiful detail. The lettuce looks real the way you’ve colored it, your stitching is perfect, and the way you’ve dyed the ribbon to match the colors on the card is awesome. Adorable image and fantastic card. I’m assuming the pins are ones you’ve made and the perfect finishing touches. “Hugs” Carol
