Song of Joy

Hello everyone,

Wow, can’t believe how time flies, it is nearly two weeks since I last posted something on my blog. Sometimes life become so hectic it is rather difficult to choose what to leave and what to do. But today I decided to share a card  with my card making friends and to visit their blogs that I neglected the past two weeks. Thanks for everyone who subscribed to my blog the past weeks, I am always surprised how small the world became with modern technology and the interest and care people have in one’s doings. This vintage card I created is a sort of experiment as this is the first time I used a vintage scrap.  I bought the Crafty Secret vintage scraps a while ago but I feel miserable to cut it up  because it is a double-sided page and a few pretty images on the back bites the dust.  This card is a combination of a vintage scrap, die cuts, and true to my stamping addiction, also a rubber stamped image – quite a challenge to design a synchronized layout with so many different elements.. The flowers and bird image were fussy cut, and oh my, the legs of the birds were a job and a half as they were so skinny. I used a scalpel to do this job to prevent not to accidentally amputate a leg!

I created the card with the following challenges in mind:

And here is the card, hope you like it:

A view of the fussy cutting

 The flowers, children and flourish

The stamped birdies coloured with my Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle pencils. It took a little bit of time to fussy cut those skinny legs

A peep at the inside. I kept this quite simple and only used layers and a flourish edged with gold glitter

Project details:

  • Cream and purple-pink cardstock
  • Prima designer paper “Annalee”
  • Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage creative scraps  “Birds and Blossoms”
  • Crafty Secrets clear stamp set “Bird Notes”
  • Seam binding “Paradise aqua”
  • Guipere lace
  • Pearl sprays
  • Pearl heart
  • Tim Holtz Alterations Bigz die “Elegant Flourishes”
  • Marianne Design Creatables “LR 0146”
  • Skwiglues “Gold”
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink “Tea Dye”
  • Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle water-color pencils

Thanks  for stopping by today. I will appreciate it so much if you take the time to leave  a comment . Have a wonderful week and happy crafting.

Regards from South Africa,

Amelia

I am always amazed at how many items you manage to get onto the space of a card! Stunning card (as usual), and glad to see I ma not the only one who delays cutting into a double sided page! I am very hesitant to buy these pages as well because of this reason.

The detail in your card is eye popping! How beautiful. . .I love all of the elements you added which certainly makes this card a true vintage piece. Amazing detail with your fussy cutting and I’m so glad that there was no amputation! LOL Best, Curt
