Simply Sepia

Hello everyone,

Hope you  enjoyed a wonderful weekend. I managed to fit in a few hours crafting this weekend although I just want to be outside enjoying the wonderful spring weather that arrived in South Africa. The theme “Monochromatic” at The Penny Black Saturday Challenge this week captured my imagination. Monochromatic is challenging for me as I love to use lots of colours on my cards. I decided to take up the challenge and try a Penny Black critter on a vintage themed card! I used this same Penny Black stamp a few weeks ago with red, white, green and black colours but this week I gave the little guy a vintage look with sepia colours – I love brown and cream combinations. Unfortunately I couldn’t find brown flowers in my stash, but for a touch of softness to the dark brown background these cream organza flowers with lace was my choice. I don’t know if I do justice to the challenge but hopefully you will enjoy my creation.

I entered the card in the following challenges:

The sentiment on the inside

Project details:

  • Penny Black stamp (2376K)  “Toot the flute”
  • Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp
  • Cream cardstock
  • Designer paper
  • Cuttlebug embossing folder “Grace’s Frame”
  • Lace and organza flowers
  • Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle watercolour pencils for colouring
  • Pearls
  • Brilliance stamp pad “Jumbo Java”

For all my followers, irrespective coming a long way with me or those who joined recently, thanks  for your visits and comments. I appreciate  all of you so much. Have a wonderful day wherever you are in the world.

Regards from South Africa,

Amelia

I adore this card Amelia. The way you’ve angled the frame is utterly unique, I may just have to case this at some stage… well done! A fabulous effort from you. This cream and brown combo is terrific. hugs Sharon x

Love this Amelia. You have captured the vintage look so well. Rather like how you did that frame. Haven’t noticed that one before. Your flowers I think are lovely and all the little finishing touches. Just beautiful. I agree with you about the lovely spring weather we are having and the evening scents in the garden just makes one want to stay outdoors. Have a great week.
