Masquerade

Hello dear blog friends,

Well, a New Year is on its way for us and I made this card today to celebrate 2012. It is with a bit of hesitation that I posted the card  as when I asked DH what he thinks he stared a moment  and the reply was “… a little bit different but it is OK to post” . The vintage image is from The Graphics Fairy and I absolutely love the carnival atmosphere this picture creates. You can find the vintage printable here. The clowns, music instruments and the dancing couple with all the lovely detail on their costumes pictures New Year celebrations way back in history. I tried to capture some of the festive colours of the image in my red flowers and pearls, yellow ribbon and green flourishes. The blue background papers were distressed using a Zutter Distress-It-All tool and then painted with gesso.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

The inside decorated with a green flourish

Project details:

  • White and blue cardstock
  • Blue striped designer paper
  • Vintage scrap from The Graphics Fairy (Vintage printable – Remarkable Masquerade Ball)
  • Computer generated sentiment
  • Petaloo Canterbury collection paper flowers
  • Hug Snug seam binding “Antique Gold”
  • Red pearls
  • Marianne Design Creatables die for flourishes
  • Skwiglues “Crystal Gold”
  • Dala acrylic gesso for distressing

And that’s from me for today – hope my card brings back memories from long ago and an almost past 2011. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it so much. Have a wonderful day.

Regards from South Africa,

Amelia

What a elegant and colorful reminder of past New Year’s festivities. How much fun would it have been to live in those days of elegance and style. Could also be used for Mardi Gras festivities. Your coloring is awesome and the distressed layers are such a beautiful addition that really make the focus of the card pop.. So gorgeous!! Have a wonderful week and New Year. “Hugs”
