Vintage Bird

Hello friends,

Saturdays is the time to share a vintage or shabby chic card. The new challenge this week at Sugar Creek Hollow  is Feathers and Fur in a vintage or shabby chic style. I made my card in a vintage, monochromatic style. I saw this image of  a bird in a glass cloche a few months ago on The Graphics Fairy blog and it caught my eye immediately. According to Karen’s description this stunning print comes from a natural history book (circa 1870). Such lovely detail the illustrator put into this. I used the original sepia toned image but Karen also made several other colored versions. The background paper is from an old dictionary I bought at an antique and collectables market. It is fallen apart and the pages were already turned a yellow-brownish color. I had to add just a little bit of distress ink to get the vintage look. The metal chain was glued to the card with glossy accents and I tested the grip to make sure it is fixed well. Maybe I must give the card to close family or friends – this will be safe as they won’t be angry if  it falls off!
