School Days

Hello blog fiends,

Hope you are all well and still enjoying the summer weather in the Northern Hemisphere. For us in the Southern parts of the world winter is slowly losing its grip and there is already a hint of lovely spring days waiting for us. I can’t wait for the first raindrops to freshen up the dry earth. Well it’s also time for our second August challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and the theme is back to school. As always your card must be in the shabby chic or vintage style to qualify for the prize or guest designer spot in this fortnightly challenge. We would love to see what you came up with  this time. Joining us as guest designer for this challenge is Mynette Kitchen and you can see her lovely creations at On  A Stampage.

For my card I used an image for Rook No 17 vintage graphics collection – isn’t the Vintage Animal ABC Alphabet Cards just adorable? I used my Die-namics “Notebook Edge” die to transform the image into a page torn from a book. The daisies were a gift from a dear blog friend Carol. I am so sad that these are the last ones in the packet, they were so pretty I used them so sparingly. The buttons are from my Mom’s button tin that were collected over a period of 40-50 years. I hope you like my take on the challenge, this one didn’t come easy for me.

Hi, Amelia! You are always so innovative in your creativity. Yes, a “shabby” type style but ALWAYS something different from the traditional take on “shabby”. This is adorable – love the vintage pictures, and the “ripped” paper side. Such cheerful, happy elements and colors. Amelia, I would love sending you our rain. I imagine you are in the parched time of year, and the rains will be very welcome indeed. Thank you for sharing your artwork, and for sharing a little about your home, too. hugs, de

Such a sweet and cute card so elegantly designed. Love the image and how you’ve incorporated it with all the little extra embellishments. Hope all is well in your corner of the world. Saw the first signs of fall yesterday with red/orange/yellow bushes and flowers along the highway to KC. Oh, I’m so not ready for fall and winter. Have a wonderful weekend! “Hugs”

Sjoe, Amelia, ek kan net dink hoe die oulike kaartjie ‘n onderwyseres se dag sal maak!! Dis te pragtig – mal oor daai outydse prentjies en al die daisies en knope! Groete en ‘n lekker Sondag more!
