Flamingo

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at the Double D Challenge blog. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Tropical”. Please visit Double D Challenges and see more DD_Tropicalwonderful samples from our talented designers and join in the fun! We have a prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org. and a Top Creative Winner and Top 3 will be chosen by the Design Team.

I decided to use a pretty pink flamingo die cut to give my card a tropical “flavor”. I have this die cut for ages in my stash and think it is from a Cricut cassette. For my background I used floral designer paper and for interest added a hemstitch frame. I added a lot of different shaped die cut leaves to layer the flamingo on. I finished off with a sentiment, some blossoms and a few pink sequins.

I am playing along in the following challenges:

  • Scrapy Land Challenges #117 (ends 07/17)- Anything Goes with a die cut from a brand that Scrapy Land sells (Dies: Spellbinders Designer Series Venise Lace “Hemstitch Rectangles” (S5-308) — Sizzix Thinlits Tim Holtz Alterations “Funky Floral #1” (662700) —  Sizzix Thinlits Tim Holtz Alterations “Garden Greens” (661206) — Creative Expressions Sentiment craft die “Mini Expressions – Happy Birthday”)(CEDME002)

That flamingo is just adorable, and embossing the wing with the Swiss embossing folder is genius!! I love all your floral elements here too, everything goes so well together and is well thought out. Wonderful card!!!

Love this design, Amelia. I would never think to use a rectangle with the square card, but it works beautifully. The paper background is perfect and I love the texture on your greens and the flaminco is too cute.
