You Look Fabulous

Hello friends,

I hope you are all doing well. Today’s post is about the new challenge at Double D Challenges with the theme “Owls and/or Pumpkins”. You can create a card or project inspired by the photo and we want to see those owls or pumpkins! For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog. Looking forward to see your card!

I don’t have any owl or pumpkin dies or stamps and found myself in trouble with this challenge. When visiting a local craft store I saw three beautiful owl embellishments from Tilla’s Handmade Embellishments. Tilla is one of South Africa’s very talented crafters and an absolute pro with electronic die-cutting machines. So these three cute owl embellishments with their googly eyes save my life for this challenge. I first stamp the sentiment on a striped background paper with black ink. I layered two die-cut branches on the designer paper, added green leaves and then the two owls with mirror tape for dimension.  The smallest owl I used to embellish the inside of the card. These three owls were just perfect for my card and all credit must go to Tilla’s  embellishments. I think it is time to open my electronic die-cutting machine again … but to be honest I like the manual machines more. I just need some more dies!

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Soar …

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this challenge with the theme “Stripes and Dots”. Please visit the Double D Challenge blog to DD_StripesDotssee more wonderful samples from Double “D”s talented designers. We have a prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org. A Top Creative Winner and Top 3 will be chosen by the Design Team.

I like the black stripes and dots of the teapot and bowl from the mood board and used that as inspiration for my card. I layered the lovely stamped bird-cage on the polka dot and striped designer paper with mirror tape for dimension. I added a cute black cat and a little bird for interest. For a splash of color I embellished the card with pink roses, green leaves, gemstones and a strip of floral washi tape. I finished off with a die cut sentiment and some glitter on the roses. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Think Spring

Hello blog friends,

We are celebrating Spring at Double D Challenges and I hope you can join us this week with your flower creations. With such a lovely ca-dd-spr1-tileinspiration photo you can just let the creative juices flow. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog and start creating – we would love to see your card this fortnight.

I was inspired by the wood-grain chair, the flowers, green, pink and yellow colors and the birds. I used a Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder “Bark” for the background. This was distressed with white acrylic paint for a shabby look. After layering an oval wreath on the background I added lots of flowers and bows. The final touches are a stamped die cut bird, pink hearts and a sentiment. I also made an envelobox  and embellished it to match my card. All the supplies are listed below. Hope you like my take on the inspiration picture.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Birds

Hello everyone,

The cue word for this week at Our Beautiful World is “Birds”. I don’t have many photographs of birds as they are too quick for me! But after searching my files I came across these – hope you will enjoy them.

Winter Time …

Hello friends,

Time for our second challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this fortnight’s challenge with the theme “Brrr! Winter” The inspiration board (see bottom of my post) is so beautiful it inspired me to created a card. Please visit the Double D challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from Team Darlene’s talented designers and join in the fun!

I was inspired by the trees, birds and the brown, white and red colors in the photo. I used an Impression Obsession “wood texture” stamp for the background. I kept the card simple by adding a branch and red bird layered on a white oval as focus point. “Snowflakes” in the form of pearls were added to complete the winter scene. The sentiment was cut with a Marianne Design Creatables die.

A Bird House

Hello friends,

Another card to share today, featuring stamps from Hot Off The Press stamp set “Sweet Tweets”. I have this stamp set for a long time and never used it  until a few weeks ago. Since then I have so much fun making cards with all the little “birdie” stamps in the set.  For this card I used the bird house and a fancy swirl  to create the foliage at the bottom. The image is colored with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils and a few pink gemstones were added. A few pink paper roses and a bow completed the card. The sentiment is from JustRite stamps.

I would love to enter my card in the following challenges:
