Think Spring

Hello blog friends,

We are celebrating Spring at Double D Challenges and I hope you can join us this week with your flower creations. With such a lovely ca-dd-spr1-tileinspiration photo you can just let the creative juices flow. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog and start creating – we would love to see your card this fortnight.

I was inspired by the wood-grain chair, the flowers, green, pink and yellow colors and the birds. I used a Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder “Bark” for the background. This was distressed with white acrylic paint for a shabby look. After layering an oval wreath on the background I added lots of flowers and bows. The final touches are a stamped die cut bird, pink hearts and a sentiment. I also made an envelobox  and embellished it to match my card. All the supplies are listed below. Hope you like my take on the inspiration picture.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Birds

Hello everyone,

The cue word for this week at Our Beautiful World is “Birds”. I don’t have many photographs of birds as they are too quick for me! But after searching my files I came across these – hope you will enjoy them.

Winter Time …

Hello friends,

Time for our second challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this fortnight’s challenge with the theme “Brrr! Winter” The inspiration board (see bottom of my post) is so beautiful it inspired me to created a card. Please visit the Double D challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from Team Darlene’s talented designers and join in the fun!

I was inspired by the trees, birds and the brown, white and red colors in the photo. I used an Impression Obsession “wood texture” stamp for the background. I kept the card simple by adding a branch and red bird layered on a white oval as focus point. “Snowflakes” in the form of pearls were added to complete the winter scene. The sentiment was cut with a Marianne Design Creatables die.

A Bird House

Hello friends,

Another card to share today, featuring stamps from Hot Off The Press stamp set “Sweet Tweets”. I have this stamp set for a long time and never used it  until a few weeks ago. Since then I have so much fun making cards with all the little “birdie” stamps in the set.  For this card I used the bird house and a fancy swirl  to create the foliage at the bottom. The image is colored with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils and a few pink gemstones were added. A few pink paper roses and a bow completed the card. The sentiment is from JustRite stamps.

I would love to enter my card in the following challenges:

Little Birdie …

Hello friends,

I have two clean and simple cards to share with you today.  A few weeks ago I bought my first Elizabeth Crafts dies and embossing folder from a local craft shop and what fun I had to play with these dies. I used the dies with some of my older Spellbinders dies and really like the outcome of this quick cards with a spring feel. It was ages since I last used an embossed background and doing so with these cards inspired me to take my forgotten stuff out of the cupboard and use them again.

I would like to enter my first card in the following challenges:

Blue Birds and Red Berries

Hello friends,

I have the honor to be a guest designer for the My Artistic Adventures Challenge blog today. Heather asked me to play along with her Christmas/Thanksgiving challenge and also sponsored the lovely image used on my card. I enjoyed it so much to work with her beautiful collage sheets which is available in her Etsy store. Some more good news: Heather is also having a give away – a chance to win a $50 gift certificate for collage sheets she has for sale in her Etsy store. You can find all the details of the give away here.

When I browsed through the Christmas images in the My Artistic Adventures store these two lovely birds caught my eye immediately. I fell in love with the beautiful colors and old vintage look of the image.  To embellish the card I used a  Catalina wreath die cut and some pearl strings between the two layers of the tag, silk flowers, red berries, vintage ribbon and wax cord with two gold bells.  The inside of the card is also embellished with a smaller tag from the collage sheet.

Little Blue Birds

Hello blog friends,

Thanks for stopping by, I am so glad you are here. It is time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow today and the theme for this fortnight is one of my favourites, Birds of  a Feather. For this challenge we want to see birds and nests featuring on your cards or any other  paper crafting project. Please remember your creation must be in the vintage or shabby chic style to qualify for the prize or guest designer spot.

It took me hours to search through the many vintage images in my folder (they are all so pretty!) and to make a decision on which one to use. The little blue birds from Bumble Button stole my heart and as there was no nest on this image I decided to do a bit of stamping too. The nest is from a Hot off the Press stamp set “Sweet Tweets” and to give dimension to the eggs I used glossy accents from Ranger. The beautiful lace is from The Vintage Suitcase.

A visit to Sugar Creek Hollow will be worthwhile for more inspiration to join us for this challenge. We also have a guest designer Anne Marie Governale and you can see her beautiful creations at her blog  My Eclectic Spirit .
