I was inspired by the colors and sunflowers in the picture. The adorable scarecrow is a Cottage Cutz die I purchased a long time ago. I added a little fence, some grass and a few sunflowers to complete the card. The sentiment is from Marianne Design Creatables. I think the card will bring much joy to a little kid.

You’re Tea-rrific

Hello friends,

Greeting you from a very hot summers day in South Africa, We are midst a heat wave with temperatures rising during daytime to 38 – 40 degrees Celsius. I can tell ya the sun is making barbecue out of us and the best place to be is in the swimming pool or in front of an air cooler. But despite the heat I am excited to share my card with you for the new challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow  today. The challenge is to use fibres and texture, not just ribbon and lace, on your shabby chic or vintage project.

I found a pretty piece of Granny print cotton fabric in one of my numerous craft boxes and decided to use it as background for my “Victorian tea” theme card. For more texture I also added a strip of frayed unbleached cotton and lace. The filigree teapot from Cottage Cutz is one of my favorite dies – it is so elegant and stylish with the  intrinsic details. The little pink resin roses just fits perfectly with the theme of the card. The Sugar Creek Hollow challenge will run for two weeks, thus leaving you with lots of time to show us your fabric themed card or project.

Challenges:

A Baby Girl!

Hello friends,

I am glad to be back in blog land again after the hustle and bustle of the festive season. I enjoyed  spending time with friends and family, reading and doing holiday things so much that there wasn’t any time left for crafting during the past two weeks. Everything is back to normal here and  I still have one week for myself before going back to work (happy me!). Hope you all had a wonderful time too and that the new year will be filled with joy, love and laughter for you and your loved ones. Today is also time for a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and the theme for this week’s challenge is Celebrate Something New. We want you to create vintage or shabby chic cards that reflect either the New Year or perhaps a new home, or new job, or new baby. I decided to make a card for a new baby. I used a Cottage Cutz die  for the carousel and embellished the card in the shabby style.  The sentiment was computer generated and framed in a Sizzix Framelits die cut – a new addition to my crafting stuff.

I submitted my card in the following challenges:

CC_CarouselSilhouette1

Thanks for visiting today and  also for your continued visits, lovely comments and care about me the past year.  You help me keep my crafting dreams alive and sharing my ideas on my blog. Have a wonderful day!

Amelia
