For the Boys

Hello friends,

Today’s creation is a masculine card, inspired by the new Double D Challenge. I am joining Team Darlene for this challenges and the theme is “One for the Boys”. With such a lovely inspiration June Collagephoto you can create anything but we would like to see sports, cars, motorcycles, checks,or fishing. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog. Looking forward to see your card!

I created a card in the vintage style using gears and a vintage car die cut. I layered everything on a red background, a strip of checkered paper,  an embossed panel and two tags cut from Kraft paper. I added some red and black buttons for interest. Please see the project details at the bottom of this post for the dies I used.

I entered my card in  the following challenges:

Up in the Sky …

Hello everyone,

I am here today with my designer card for the new fortnightly challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow with the theme “Dreaming of the Beach”.  For this challenge we want you to think of the seaside or the beach when you create your vintage or shabby chic card or other paper-crafted project. This week Marie Svensson is our guest designer and you can see more of her lovely vintage creations on her blog Primia.

As we are in the midst of summer in South Africa the beach is definitely the place to be during our hot summer days. I used a stamp from Joanna Sheen “Kite” from the Faye Whittaker All Our Yesterdays range. As this is a large stamp and I want the card to be masculine I kept the layout and design very simple. The image was coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Lyra-Rembrandt aquarelle pencils. The layering was done with designer papers and a piece of frayed burlap. A few buttons from my old buttons tin completed the card.

For Dad

Hello everyone,

I’m here to share with you my newest card for the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge starting this week. Our theme is Father’s Day and we want to see cards in the vintage or shabby style. Father’s day is just around the corner and what a wonderful opportunity to create something special for him. We also have a guest designer who join us  for this challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow.  She is Ragnhild Øren  and you can see more of her beautiful work here

For my card I decided on a chipboard penny farthing bicycle. I decorated the wheel with a large gold button and was I surprised by the outcome. This bulky embellishment gave a sort of Moroccan feeling to the card which I love with the warm autumn colours. I mounted the penny farthing on a mini clipboard die cut from Tim Holtz and attached Tim Holtz tattered banners to the rear of the bicycle. For the background I used a Tim Holtz weathered clock die cut and a strip of May Arts netting.

I entered my card in the following challenges:
