Picture It!

It’s time for another fun challenge at The Shabby Tea Room, unbelievable how the days go by. We are enjoying springtime in our country and our garden is spoiling us with lots of beautiful flowers. The past weekend we had our first rain to wash away the winter dust – everything looks so bright and beautiful. I am also glad to be back in blog land again after a short holiday. But back to the challenge – the theme for this challenge is “Picture It” with a lovely photo to inspire you to create a card or project. Tiny Blessings

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room! This fortnight our theme is called ABC-123 and the challenge is to use the inspiration photo on The Shabby Tea Room blog to create a card or project. This week’s lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Paper Temptress! I was inspired by the chalk board and the lovely yellow sunflowers in the photo. I used a sentiment stamp from JustRite as the main focus on black paper. I distressed the edges with white craft paint for a chalk board effect. I layered the stamped sentiment, ink-pot and pen on a vellum banner and finished off with lots of sunflowers, twine, a butterfly and a yellow bow.

Blooms and Butterflies

Hello blog friends,

It is a lovely day in South Africa although it is still winter and chilly. I am looking forward to springtime and therefore it was such fun to create my card with a spring flower for the new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room. This fortnight’s challenge is called “Peaches and Cream” accompanied by a lovely photo for inspiration. Our sponsor this fortnight is Crafty Secrets and you could win a fabulous prize! I chose a beautiful gerberia daisy image and sentiment from the “Fairy Wishes” digital stamp set kindly sponsored by Crafty Secrets. I used watercolor pencils to color the image in bright orange and yellow. It was then layered on Spellbinders die cuts “Antique Corner”. I added two butterflies, some pearls, a heart embellishment and a bow to complete the card. Hope you like my take on the challenge – I really struggled to put this card together as this is not colors I usually work with!

Summer Picnic

Hello friends,

There is a new challenge starting today at The Shabby Tea Room and the theme for is “Summer Picnic”. In the southern hemisphere we are still in the midst of winter and the past few days were freezing cold in South Africa. Despite of this I enjoyed making this card with its summery feel. Sweet as Sunshine

Hello friends,

Today’s post I share with a happy dance – this is my first as design team member for The Shabby Tea Room Challenge blog! I am so honored and delighted to join the very talented team of ladies. This is going to be an incredible experience and a golden opportunity to learn more about card making and the shabby style. Thank you for holding thumbs for me and all your kind comments when I submitted my cards for the design team call. I appreciate it so much.

The theme for the The Shabby Tea Room challenge this fortnight is “Sweet as Sunshine”. For my card I was kindly sponsored with a yummy cupcake image that I layered on a paper doily. I coloured the image with my watercolor pencils and paper piece the cupcake layer and cream topping for more dimension. To embellish I added a gingham ribbon, some sequins, a red button and glitter. The sentiment is a a die cut from Marianne Designs Creatables.
