“Bee” Happy

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “BEE”DD_Bee_June2Inspired”. Use bees and/or anything that inspires you on the mood board.
(honeycomb, yellow, black, hexagon etc). The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

I was inspired by the honeycomb pattern and the bees in the inspiration photo. I used an embossing folder to create a honeycomb background for the card. The embossing folder also have a die-cut,  which I use to fill up the pattern on the top layer with various designer paper. I added a kraft -coloured frame  to the pattern layer. I then die-cut the bees from kraft and sand coloured cardstock and distress the edges. This is the only bee die I own and it is one of the first dies that I purchased with my Cuttlebug in 2009. The bees were added with mirror tape for dimension. I finished off with a combined stamped and die-cut sentiment and a pink heart.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

I was inspired by the beautiful pink roses in the photo and decided to make a Mother’s Day card for Mum. A Thousand Years To Wait …

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Book Covers”. You can use anything you see on these covers on the inspiration photo: colours – images – words! In your post please tell us what it was that inspired you from the covers. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

I was inspired by the flowers, fine script of the title and the oval shape of the book cover in the top right panel. I used floral designer paper, layered on black card-stock, as background. I die cut a fancy oval from black paper to frame the silver sentiment. I finished off with flowers, rosehip stems, silver leaves, bows and a few grey gemstones. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Poinsettia

Hello friends,

Another Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this challenge is “Poinsettia”. The team has created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

To all my followers and blog friends: Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!.

I decided to create a card in my favourite colour combo, pink, grey and green, for this challenge. I used a silver circle on a soft grey background for the focal point on my card. I die cut several layers of the poinsettia for a bit more depth to the garland and also added some gemstones for berries . The poinsettia garland was then layered on the silver circle with mirror tape for dimension. I then added a silhouette sleigh and reindeer die cut to add a more festive feel to the card. The reindeer were further embellished with pink bows and gemstones.  I finished off with a silver mirror board die cut sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Doodle Rose Wreaths

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Wreaths”. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

My inspiration from the picture was the lovely pink and green colours and I tried to incorporated these colours into my card. A few weeks ago I received a lovely wreath die from my team leaders, Diane and Darlene, and it was just perfect for this challenge. I used gingham paper as background, then layered my leaf border with mirror tape at the top of the card. I cut two wreaths and used my watercolour pencils to paint the doodle roses and leaves on the wreaths. I layered the two wreaths also with mirror tape for dimension. I also cut additional doodle roses and leaves to add on the leaf border for interest. I finished off with bows, small gem stones and a sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:
