Hope Your Day Is Amazing

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the theme “Purple – Blue –Green”. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

Now onto the details of my card for the challenge. I used my brushstroke flower die to created the flowers for my floral arrangement. I die cut the flowers from coloured cardstock, then distress them on the edges with inks. I  assembled all the small pieces to create depth and dimension. The floral arrangement was then layered with mirror tape on a purple striped background layer and a strip of lace. I finished off with a die cut sentiment and a few sequins. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Rustic Dreams

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this fortnight’s challenge with the theme “Monochromatic”. Please visit the Double D challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from the talented designers and join in the fun!

Monochromatic cards are very difficult for me so I decided on neutral tones for my card to create a rustic look. I used a “pinkish” stone colour for my two background layers which I repeated in the leaves and butterflies. To give a brushstroke effect to the leaves and butterflies I used a darker hue of  the stone colour. I finished off with stone-coloured roses, a few pearls and a die cut sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

  • Dies R Us Challenge #193 (ends 05/28) – Anything Goes with a brand they sell (Dies: Sizzix Thinlits ” Brushstroke Butterflies” (665848) — Sizzix Thinlits “Bloom, Colorize” (665208) — Memory Box die “Hutton Wreath” (94008) — Creative Expressions Mini Expressions ‘Stacked You Are So Special”(CEDME079))

Graceful

Hello friends,

I hope you are all doing well. Today’s post is about the new challenge at Double D Challenges with the theme “Birds/Nests/Birdhouses/Bird Cages”. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog. Looking forward to see your creation!

I decided to create a shabby card in one of my favourite colour combo’s of pink, purple and kraft for this challenge. I used a shabby style designer paper as my background for the hanging bird cages. I added lots of leaves and roses to enhance the lovely image on the base layer. I finished off with a few clear bubble stones and a sentiment that overflow to the inside of the card. As the shabby style of cardmaking suits me more I really enjoyed to create this card. Hope you like it.

Hope Your Day Is Wonderful

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this fortnight’s challenge with the theme “Buildings”. Please visit the Double D Challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from the talented designers and join in the fun! We also have a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

My inspiration from the picture was the garden hut which I changed to a row of colourful beach huts.. I decided to create a clean and simple card so that the colourful huts stand out on the white background. First I stamped a layer of “sand” on the background. I coloured the huts with watercolour pencils and markers and then layered two of them with mirror tape on the background for dimension. The background layer was framed with yellow cardstock and then glued to the base card. I finished off with a beach ball, a pair of flip-flops and a sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

I coloured each piece with watercolour pencils and markers and then assembled my arrangement. I finished off with a sentiment cut from black glitter paper. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Shades of Pink

Hello friends,

Another slimline card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this challenge is “Shades of Pink”. The team has created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

I love pink colours, it is always so soft and feminine. For my card I decided on a floral design by using a slimline stamp set with matching stencils.  I stamp the image with black ink, then use the stencils and distress inks, in various shades of pink and green, to do the colouring. I then framed the image on a pink background, added a few pink bubbles and a layered sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:
