Let Your Dreams Set Sail

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at the Double D Challenge blog. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Lighthouses”. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I decided to create a masculine card for this challenge. I added a die cut fishing net on the base card to create a textured background for the scene. I stamped the sailboat and sentiment on a black framed oval die cut and coloured the image with watercolour pencils. I layered the oval on the fishing net and a lighthouse die cut was added with mirror tape to give dimension to the card. I finished off with seagulls, a die cut anchor and sea shells. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I also entered my card in the following challenges:

Shades of Pink

Hello friends,

Another slimline card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this challenge is “Shades of Pink”. The team has created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

I love pink colours, it is always so soft and feminine. For my card I decided on a floral design by using a slimline stamp set with matching stencils.  I stamp the image with black ink, then use the stencils and distress inks, in various shades of pink and green, to do the colouring. I then framed the image on a pink background, added a few pink bubbles and a layered sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Winter Wonderland

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this fortnight’s challenge with the theme “Blue and White Winter” Please visit the Double D challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from the talented designers and join in the fun!

I was inspired by the blue gingham, snowflakes and bird in the inspiration photo. I used blue gingham paper as background layer for the bird cage die cut. I decorated the bird cage with leaves and bows, then added the bird with mirror tape for dimension. I die cut snowflakes from glitter paper  to add more interest to the background and for a wintery feel. I finished off with a die cut sentiment. Hope you like my take on the “winter” challenge!

Sweet Wishes

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the theme “Fruit and/or Vegetables”. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

Now onto the details of my card for the new challenge. I only have one die between the tons of dies in my stash that featured fruit. As the die cuts are small I decided to make a row of different fruit across the lower half of the card. I highlighted the stitched border on the die cuts with a white gelly roller pen and also distress the fruit with inks to add depth. I layered the different fruit with mirror tape on the polka dot background and white trellis for dimension. I finished off with a die cut sentiment from black metallic glitter paper.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Fall Leaves

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at the Double D Challenge blog . Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the lovely theme of “October – What does it mean to you?”. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

I love to make cards with autumn colours – the browns, oranges, reds and yellows are so warm and earthy. I decided to create a shabby card with a rustic feel for this challenge. I painted a few scraps of papers with my watercolour paints and then die cut the leaves with different sizes of dies. I layered branches on a “stone wall” background die cut. I then add the leaves with mirror tape for dimension and lightly dusted the edges of the leaves with gold glitter. I finished off with a die cut sentiment. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Snowflakes

Hello friends,

Another Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this fortnight is “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!”.  This is our last challenge for 2018 DD_Snowand you can create / use anything SNOW related. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

My inspiration from the picture is the trees, snow and white color. For a “frosty” feel I cut a snowflake border and added some sparkle with fairy dust glitter. I layered the border on turquoise designer paper and added two die cut trees with mirror tape. To embellish the tress is used wax cord bows, small roses and gemstones.  I finished off with more snowflakes, glitter snow on the trees and a die cut sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:
