If the Shoe Fits

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the theme of “If the Shoe Fits”. Yes, it is all about shoes this fortnight. I DD_Shoeslove shoes in real life as well as in card-making. Some  shoes can be so stylish and elegant but for other occasions you need a practical and comfortable pair. Just look at the Double D inspiration picture and pick your pair to join our challenge. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I decided on an elegant pair of shoes for my vintage style card. The lovely vintage picture is from Graphic45 and matches the fashionable pair of shoes just perfectly. I layered the vintage picture on a delicate lace die cut background and then added the shoes with mirror tape for a bit of dimension. I finished off with a stamped sentiment, lace cord for the bows, pretty paper flowers and gemstone embellishments for the shoes. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Wish Big…

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this challenge with the theme  “Moon and/or Stars”. I love the blue colors and twinkling stars from the mood board and used that as inspiration for my card.  Please visit the Double D Challenge blog DD_MoonStarsand see more wonderful samples from Double “D”s talented designers and join in the fun!

I decided on an image from the Graphic 45 series ”Secret Garden” for my background. I die cut two stars, added fairy glitter and layered it with mirror tape on the base card for dimension. I finished off with  bows, paper roses, more gemstone stars and a sentiment. This was a quick and easy shabby card to make. I hope the recipient will love it!

Sending My Love

Hello friends,

Another card with a vintage feel, featuring my favourite colours pink and green, as guest designer at Hope & Chances Creativity. I used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Front die “Floral” to create a delicate background for the lovely rose vintage scrap from Graphic45. I just love this die, it is so versatile for vintage, shabby and whimsical cards. A rose and a butterfly are also stunning on a card for me, so I added a butterfly from the Spellbinders D’Lites “Flutter Love” die set. I made a template of the die cut by tracing the outlines of the butterfly and sponged the layers with distress inks to match the colours of the rose. The banner and sentiment is from the JustRite stamp set “Timely Banners”. I was delighted when the banner perfectly slided onto the image. I cut little slits round the rosebud so that it pops up on the banner.

A Floral Frame …

Hello friends,

My second card for Christine’s blog, Hope & Chances Creativity , features the beautiful Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Fronts die set “Floral”. I decided to add a vintage look to the card by trimming away the floral background to create a delicate frame for the vintage scrap from Graphic 45. I was so pleased with the outcome as it gives so much depth to the picture of the adorable girl in the garden. I also added some tiny butterflies from the Spellbinders Die D’Lites “Flutter Love”.

Daisies

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing a card for the new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. The theme is “Hiding and Go Seek” which means there must be a hidden element on your project. Your project can be a card or any other paper crafting item, such as a scrapbook layout, box, tag, etc. but must be made in a vintage or shabby chic style. Hope you can join us this fortnight. Kerstin and Nina are our two guest designers for this challenge and you can also see their beautiful cards on the Sugar Creek Hollow blog.

For my card I used a Graphic45 vintage image from the Secret Garden collection – one of my favorite designer paper packs. To make the design a bit more interesting I cut the front 3 cm smaller than the back of the card to reveal the designer paper on the inside. I added a Spellbinders D-Lites “Flourish Trim” die cut to the edge as a finishing touch. The image was raised with adhesive foam squares to hide the two sentiment tags. As I am a detail junkie I added some little birdies, paper daisies, lace and pearls to ensure the recipient of this card have lots of things to look at!

Count The Sunny Hours

Hello everyone,

We had lots of rain in our country the past two weeks with very little sunshine. To see everything turn into all shades of green is such a blessing in our part of the world. However my card today is about Spring, sunshine and flowers. I have the privilege to be guest designer for My Sheri  Crafts new challenge “Celebrate Spring”.  I am sure most of us love springtime and the lovely flowers typical of this season, so come and join the challenge at My Sheri Crafts. You may use any supplies as long as it fits the theme.

I created a garden scene with some Graphic45 designer papers and a garden bench die cut from Marianne Design Creatables. The paper daisies are a new addition to my already huge collection of flowers. The lace stamp is from Stampendous and a favorite to add a vintage touch to my cards. Hope you like my take on the challenge. A big thank you to Sheri for the invitation to join the talented My Sheri Crafts design team as guest designer.
