Pine Trees

Hello friends,

A Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this fortnight is “Pine Trees and/or Pine Cones”. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

I decided to create a shabby Christmas card in my favourite colour combo, pink and green for this challenge. I used three pine trees as my focal point on a soft pink designer paper background. To add a festive feel to the card the pine trees were then embellished with silver bows, roses and silver gem stones. The reason why I used roses for embellishments is that roses are in full bloom in South Africa during Christmas time.  I added the reindeer and two of the pine trees to the background layer with mirror tape for dimension.  I finished of with a silver mirror board die cut sentiment and a few gem stones. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7-12

Hello friends,

The theme for our last 2019 challenge at Double D Challenges is “Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7-12 ”. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the DD_TwelveDays7-12Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win! This will be my last post before Christmas and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your visits during 2019. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and for my Christian friends, have a Merry Christmas.

My card was inspired by the nine dancers, although I could only fit in three dancers on my card. I layered three Christmas trees on designer paper as background for my ballerinas. The tutus of the ballerinas were embellished with little die cut bows and then the ballerinas were layered with mirror tape to the background for dimension. I then added silver gemstones to create an illusion of falling snowflakes. Each tree was embellished with a silver star and some glitter glue. I finished off with a strip of lace, pink roses and silver cord. The sentiment is cut from silver shimmer card-stock.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Twelve Days of Christmas

Hello friends,

Another Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this DD_TwelfeDaysfortnight is “Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 1-6″. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

I was inspired by Day 2 – Two Turtle Doves and the white, pink and green colours in the inspiration picture. I layered designer paper on pink card-stock and then on a white card base. I added leaves and two die cut crochet lace strips on the top and bottom of the card for interest.  The doves are lifted of the base card with mirror tape for dimension.  The finishing touches are the pink roses (sprinkled with glitter), silver cord bow and pink gemstones.  To matched the silver bow a bold die cut sentiment from silver card-stock was added below the doves. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:
