On Your Special Day

Hello friends,

Today I am sharing a card inspired by the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme is “Wedding” and with such a lovely inspiration photo from Team Darlene I DD_Weddingdecided to play along. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog. Looking forward to see your wedding cards!

My card was inspired by the beautiful flowers and the gold accents in the inspiration picture. I used a beige script designer paper as background for the die cut frame. From the same designer paper I cut a heart and lifted it off the base card with mirror tape for dimension. The edges of the heart and the base layer are distress with gold texture paste. I added my die cut sentiment on the heart and finished off with flowers, die cut leaves, a gold cord bow and tiny gold pearls. Hope you like my take on the challenge!

Shades of Purple

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme of “Lavenders-Lilac-Purple”. You can include any other colours  DD_Lavenderon the mood board but with ‘purples’ as the main focus. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. The prize to win for this challenge is a “Memory Box Small Lavender Butterfly Right Corner die” and absolutely gorgeous!

I was inspired by the colours – purple, green and white – and the hearts in the photo. I used designer paper in shades of purple for my background and then added an intrinsic die cut layer as base for the heart, teapot and teacup. I stamped the teapot and cup with purple ink, die cut each piece and then added the pieces with mirror tape for dimension to the base card. I embellished the heart with gemstone hearts and glitter stones in shades of purple for added interest. The fun part for me is always to arrange the flowers, leaves and bows. I finished off with a sentiment stamped on a tag and a few glitter stones. I really like the outcome of this card.

Rose Garden

Hello friends,

Spring arrived last Sunday for us in the Southern Hemisphere. We are already experiencing hot weather in Pretoria –  seems as we have skipped the crisp and cool spring days. In our garden the roses started blooming this week and seeing this I enjoyed it so much to create this card for  the  Sugar Creek Hollow challenge this forthnight. The theme is “My Rose Garden” and we would like to see roses on your vintage or shabby chic project. The sponsor for MyArtisticAdventures_Logothis challenge is Heather Hudson and you can visit her shop on Etsy at My Artistic Adventures. The prize for one random winner is three collage sheets from her Etsy shop. From Heather’s beautiful collection of digital sheets she kindly supplied me with the “shabby green vintage rose tags collage sheet” for the challenge. I used my new Spellbinders D’Lites die “Gazebo” to create a garden scene. The beautiful tag is embellished with pearls and lace. I then printed a few more tags and fuzzy cut the roses to use with the paper roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. The inside of the card is also decorated with tags from the collage sheet.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Butterflies

Hello friends,

I am back with a card for the new Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge that starts today. This week the theme is to use metal on your project. We want your vintage or shabby chic cards or other paper-crafted projects to feature a charm or any metal embellishment on it. I decided to use a butterfly stamp for my main image and added a metal butterfly and  bronze chain as embellishments. The image is stamped on watercolor paper and I added only a few blotches of color with Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle pencils to create a weathered vintage look. The butterfly stamp is a South African design from SiDesigns by Amanda and the sentiment is from the Whimsy  “Vintage Birthday Tabs” collection.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:
