Hearts and Stars

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Red/White/Blue AND/OR Stars & Stripes”. Just look at the lovely mood board – it will surely help you to get started. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I decided to play with hearts in different shapes and sizes as the focal point of my card. As the card is for a teenage girl I choose background papers that create the idea of a denim look. I layered the hearts on the blue striped background paper and added little red stars for a cheerful look. I finished off with a paper lace border, red roses, glitter and bows. The sentiment die is from Spellbinders. This was a really quick and easy card to make and I hope the (teenager!) recipient will love it.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Just A Note …

Hello friends,

Sharing with you today my guest designer card for the Crafty Boots Challenge blog. What a wonderful opportunity to be featured on such a Guest DT Badgelovely challenge blog – thanks so much Dionne and the Crafty Boots design team for inviting me. The theme of the current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges is ‘Black and White’. Your project can be a card, an altered box, a handmade gift, an album, in fact anything you like just as long as it has a colour combo of black and white.

I decided to create a vintage/shabby themed card with layers of black and white designer paper and a gramophone die cut. To frame the gramophone I used a Spellbinders die “Regal Frame” – for me the old vintage and intricate pattern complimented the paper and gramophone so well. To complete the card I added a JustRite sentiment, paper roses and bows

For My Mum

Hello friends,

A card for a special mother to share today. I decided not to use designer paper as background but strips of washi tape and a Spellbinders heart shape die cut. The watering can is from a Paper Sweeties die cut and stamp set “Showering You With Love”. I added a few tiny roses, leaves, gemstones, bow and a sentiment and all is done. I love the simplicity of the card although it still have the shabby chic look.

A Delicate Flutter …

Hello friends,

When I saw the butterfly from the Spellbinders Die D’Lites “Flutter Love” set I immediately remembered the delicate oval die from the Spellbinders Nestabilities Majestic Elements ‘Radiant Rectangles” die set – it just matches the beautiful wings of the butterfly. For the vintage look lovers I used soft pink designer paper from BoBunny “Madeleine Collection” as background. A Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D’Lites “Sprigs” is layered between the ovals to accentuate the butterfly. There is nothing outstanding about this card but for sure it was a creative journey to mix and match Spellbinders dies and to use the old and new ones together. You can see more creative ways to use your Spellbinders dies at Hope & Chances Creativity where Christine will inspire you with her beautiful creations.

Challenges:

  • Scrapy Land Challenges #11 (ends 02/15) – Anything Goes using any brand of die Scrapy Land sells (Dies: Spellbinders Die D’Lites “Flutter Love”, Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D’Lites “Sprigs” and Spellbinders Nestabilities Majestic Elements ‘Radiant Rectangles”)

Sending My Love

Hello friends,

Another card with a vintage feel, featuring my favourite colours pink and green, as guest designer at Hope & Chances Creativity. I used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Front die “Floral” to create a delicate background for the lovely rose vintage scrap from Graphic45. I just love this die, it is so versatile for vintage, shabby and whimsical cards. A rose and a butterfly are also stunning on a card for me, so I added a butterfly from the Spellbinders D’Lites “Flutter Love” die set. I made a template of the die cut by tracing the outlines of the butterfly and sponged the layers with distress inks to match the colours of the rose. The banner and sentiment is from the JustRite stamp set “Timely Banners”. I was delighted when the banner perfectly slided onto the image. I cut little slits round the rosebud so that it pops up on the banner.

  • JustRite stamp set “Timely Banners” for sentiment and banner

I enjoyed it so much making this card and I hope you love it too. On the way is my last card for Hope & Chances Creativity – a delicate card – so stayed tuned.

Amelia
