Christmas in July

Hello friends,

It is a pleasure to share my post today as the guest designer at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog. I have this honour following to be the Top Pick for the “Tickled Pink!” challenge recently. You can see my winning entry here. Thank you Funkie Junkie design team for asking me to join the  new challenge as a featured guest designer – your challenges always inspires me. The theme of the current challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog is “Christmas in July”.

ReindeerShabby

I decided to make a shabby card in non-traditional Christmas colours.  I added two layers of designer paper to the base card to create depth. The different layers were distressed with a distress tool and then aged with distress ink.

I chose a lovely deer die cut as my focal point and decorated it with a wreath, a tiny bow and rose bud.

ReindeerShabby2

To add some texture I used a strip of vintage lace to the bottom and a string of pearls to the top of the card. I covered a die cut music note border strip with gold texture paste and layered it on the lace.

I added a die cut sentiment, a few pearls and a flower bouquet for more interest.

I always like to decorate the inside of my cards with some of the elements featured on the outside. For this card I repeat the music note border, leaves and pearls at the bottom of the card inside.

Happy Birthday

Hello friends,

It is Double D Challenges 2nd anniversary and to celebrate we have a beautiful mood board to inspire you. The theme is “Anything Birthday/Anniversary Goes using Mood board”.

But there is more news about our prizes! It will run as normal but besides the Top 3, Winner & Random.org winner, there will be two winners who will receive prizes. All the details about the prizes are on the Double D Challenge blog. Besides these prizes some Design Team members will also be offering a prize – so be sure to pop over to their blogs for inspiration and a chance to win a prize in celebration of our anniversary. Unfortunately due to problems with our postal services I will not offer a prize.

For my card to celebrate the Double D Anniversary I used the colors, flowers and the cake as inspiration for my card. I used a stamped and die cut fancy cake as focal point. I layered the elements on floral and gingham background paper. I added gemstones, a  banner, hearts and lace for a shabby feel. To finish off I added a die cut sentiment, bow and pretty pink roses.

I entered the following challenges:

The pink cake stamped with pink embossing powder

The sentiment and banner

The flowers, lace and hearts

The bow and flowers
