Wings

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at the Double D Challenge blog. Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the lovely theme of “Just Wing It”.  Please visit the Double D Challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from our talented designers and join in the fun! We have a prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org. and a Top Creative Winner and Top 3 will be chosen by the Design Team.

I was inspired by the black, white, purple and aqua colors in the mood board. I randomly splashes some watercolor paint on watercolor paper and then die cut the butterflies. To add more interest to the card I stamped a strip of typescript as a background for the bow and butterflies. The top panel was then lifted from the card base with mirror tape for dimension. I finished off with a black die cut sentiment and for a little bit of bling I added clear baubles. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Hedgy Truffles

Hello friends,

I hope you are all doing well. Today’s post is about a fun new challenge at Double D Challenges with the theme “Woodland Critters”. You can create a card or project inspired by the photo and we want to see lovely animals from the woodlands on your projects. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog. Looking forward to see your card.

I decided to use a cute image from Penny Black for my card this time. The hedgehogs are so adorable and I love coloring with my watercolor pencils for a change. It is the first time I used my new Tim Holtz distress oxide ink and I am quite pleased with the effect I get for the blue sky. I added die cut leaves and a sentiment to finish off. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Santa

Hello friends,

November is here … and Christmas is on our doorstep! I have my first Christmas card for this year to share today at the Double D Challenge blog . Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the theme of “Here comes Santa”. I was inspired by the picture of Santa Claus  as well as the brown tones in the inspiration board. The team have created beautiful cards – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I decided to create a rustic Christmas card with kraft colors. The design is very easy and ideal for mass production. I layered a strip of music paper on my kraft base card. The stamped Santa image was layered on a lacey circle die cut and lifted of the base card with mirror tape. For the traditional Christmas colors I added some greenery and red “gem stone” berries. A sentiment, a little bit of gold glitter and a tiny gold bow are the final touches to my card. The distressed edges adds a perfectly aged, weathered look.   Hope you like my take on the Double D Challenge “Here comes Santa Claus”.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Sending Hugs …

Hello friends,

I hope you are all doing well. Today’s post is about the new challenge at Double D Challenges with the theme “Feeling FALLish”. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog. Looking forward to see your card!

My inspiration for the challenge was the lovely warm Fall colors, leaves and the wood grain frame in the picture.  I used kraft paper for my base card and then layered several die cut leaves on a wood grain designer paper. I used my Prime watercolors to create the lovely shades of yellow, orange and brown for the leaves. I finished of with a die cut sentiment which is a combo of 2 different die sets and a few gem stones. This was such an easy card to make and I love the warm and shabby feel of it.

Challenges I entered:

Looking at the beautiful inspiration picture I decided to join in the fun. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

The leaves are colored with distress inks which is the adhered with mirror tape for dimension. To finish off I added a wax cord bow, some black pearls and a swirly sentiment.

All White

Hello friends,

Today we have a fun new challenge at Double D Challenges . The theme for this fortnight is “All White”. I love working with lots of colors on my cards and is always in the deep end with “white” challenges. For my creation I decided on a shabby card with texture, layering, embossing and a few embellishments. To make the birdie, wreath and leaves pop on the white embossed background I used mirror tape to give some dimension. For embellishments I added two bows and a little music tag to match the embossed music background.  To bring the little birdie to life a pearl necklace was the finishing touch. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Butterfly Heart

Hello friends,

I am still on my journey to improve on my clean and simple card making skills and I can tell you it is a difficult style for me.  I was inspired by the sketch for the new challenge at CAS[E] this Sketch to create this card. I used a much neglected die to cut the pop up butterfly heart shape  and then added a few red butterflies to match the red polka dot washi tape. A gold die cut sentiment provided a little bit of bling.  I hope you enjoy this CAS card as much as I did in creating it!

Challenges I entered:

A close-up of the sentiment and butterflies

Project details

White and red card-stock — Gold mirror board — Polka dot washi tape — Memory Box die ” Butterfly Heart” ( No 98778) — Sizzix Thinlits die “Celebrate” (660223)

Thank you for visiting and looking at my card. I hope next time I show more improvement on the clean and simple style of card making! Have a wonderful day.

Regards,

Amelia
