Snuggle Up

Hello friends,

A card to share for the new Double D Challenge starting today. The theme for our two weekly challenge this time is “Snuggle Up Buttercup”.  The inspiration picture says it all – think warm and cozy! For more information about the challenge and the prize up for grabs visit the Double D Challenge blog and start creating – we would love to see your card.

I decided to make a Christmas card, my first one for this year! I love the tile with the adorable little cat and the red blanket and an old Penny Black critter stamp came to my rescue. The cat looks so happy and cozy with his little mouse friend!  I used craft cardstock for a rustic look and kept the layout simple. I added a tree created with die cut leaves and added some stars to the “branches”.  To finish off I added a die cut sentiment, a hanging red star and golden bows.  The coloring was done with my Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Wishes Are Possible …

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at the Double D Challenge blog . Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Wishes are Possible”. You can use anything with ‘wish’ in it for example – Wishing you a happy birthday, Wish you were here, Best Wishes, etc and anything you see in the mood board as inspiration for your creation. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

My card was inspired by the pink colors and big sentiment in the inspiration picture. As a child I loved everything about fairies and always wished to see a real one hiding between the flowers and leaves! So now you know why I chose a fairy image to use with the “best wishes” sentiment. This fairy stamp is a new addition to my collection and  I enjoyed coloring the little beauty in my favorite shades of pink. I stamped the fairy twice on card-stock, fussy cut one of the images and colored it with Derwent Inktense pencils. On the stamped top layer I added a die cut wreath and leaves, pretty pink roses, bows and a bold die cut sentiment. Guided by the stamped image on the top layer I added the coloured image with mirror tape to the top layer for a dimensional look. The top layer was then lifted from the base layer with mirror tape. To finished off I added some glitter to the wings and roses and also a few gemstones for extra sparkle. I love the rustic look of the card and the little fairy sitting on the leaves and branches – my childhood wish come to live in this card!

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the theme of “If the Shoe Fits”. Yes, it is all about shoes this fortnight. I DD_Shoeslove shoes in real life as well as in card-making. Some  shoes can be so stylish and elegant but for other occasions you need a practical and comfortable pair. Just look at the Double D inspiration picture and pick your pair to join our challenge. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I decided on an elegant pair of shoes for my vintage style card. The lovely vintage picture is from Graphic45 and matches the fashionable pair of shoes just perfectly. I finished off with a stamped sentiment, lace cord for the bows, pretty paper flowers and gemstone embellishments for the shoes. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this DD_flowerschallenge with the theme of “May flowers”. You can use any of the colors shown in the picture and flowers. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. The prize to win for this challenge is a beautiful flower die and absolutely gorgeous!

I was inspired by the beautiful colors and of course the flowers in the photo. I painted some pink, purple and yellow watercolors on watercolor paper for my background. I die cut various leaves to created the strings of greenery for my flowers. The fun part for me was to arrange the flowers and wax cord bows.  I finished off with a sentiment die cut from Penny Black and a few sequins. I really like the shabby outcome of this card.
