Cupcakes

Hello friends,

Happy New Year to all – wishing you love, health and happiness in 2020. It is also Double D Challenges 5th anniversary and to celebrate we have a beautiful mood board to inspire you. The theme for this anniversary challenge is “Cupcakes”. To be part of our celebration challenge please visit the Double D Challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from Double “D”s talented designers and join in the fun!

I decided on a cream, soft pink and green colour combo for this card. I used a polka dot designer paper as background for my two cupcakes.  The cupcakes were embellished with a candle, rose and a cherry for interest. I then added a large script die cut sentiment and a rose bouquet for a shabby look.  To finish off I added a frame of pink gemstones. I really like the extra bling of the gemstones on the card!

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Poinsettia

Hello friends,

Another Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this challenge is “Poinsettia”. The team has created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

To all my followers and blog friends: Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!.

I decided to create a card in my favourite colour combo, pink, grey and green, for this challenge. I used a silver circle on a soft grey background for the focal point on my card. I die cut several layers of the poinsettia for a bit more depth to the garland and also added some gemstones for berries . The poinsettia garland was then layered on the silver circle with mirror tape for dimension. I then added a silhouette sleigh and reindeer die cut to add a more festive feel to the card. The reindeer were further embellished with pink bows and gemstones.  I finished off with a silver mirror board die cut sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Peeking Santa Bear

Hello friends,

Another Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The challenge is hosted by Team Diane and the theme is “Santa Hats”. The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. As always there is also a lovely prize to win!

I decided to create a cute Christmas card for this challenge. I used  a neglected curved stitch die to create a raised background with mirror tape. I then cut, colour and glue all the pieces together for the adorable peeking Santa bear. The bear was placed between the two curved edges and the fur and pom-pom of the hat were covered with glitter gloss. Unfortunately the glitter is not showing on the photo. I added red gem stones for berries and a few glitter stars. I finished off with a die cut sentiment. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Winter Blues

Hello friends,

Time for a new challenge at Double D Challenges. I am joining Team Darlene for this fortnight’s challenge with the theme “Winter Blues”  Please visit the Double D challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from the talented designers and join in the fun!

I was inspired by the pale blue colours, tree branch, birds and the wreath in the inspiration photo. I used a lovely designer paper as background for the shuttered window die cut. I decorated the window with small wreaths and a garland, which is embellished with gemstones and silver bows. The two grey cats peeping through the window were added on second thought for more interest. To complete the wintery look I added some branches with tiny birds and a few silver snowflakes. To finished off the sentiment was then layered on an oval die-cut border to let it stand out a little bit more. Hope you like my take on the challenge!

Beauty of a Butterfly

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the beautiful theme of “Butterflies”. Butterflies are always a favourite DD_Butterfliestheme for me – maybe it is their lovely colours and elegance. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

My inspiration from the picture was the lovely colours and so I tried to incorporated the yellow, pink, green and black into my card. I used a beautiful designer paper as background, then layered an intricate rose edge die cut on the one side for interest. I used watercolours to paint the butterflies to match the colours of the flowers on the designer paper. I finished off with pearl swirls and a sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Bunny Hop

Hello friends,

Today’s card is for the Cut It Up Challenge with the theme “Hopping Down the Bunny Trail (Easter)”. Actually there is a story behind this card as it is also part of another challenge – so let me explain. As most of us are in isolation, lock-down, quarantine, etc around the world, an awesome group of ladies challenged each other to do a Covid-19 Relief challenge. What a great idea to lift our spirits, get us out of our daily routines and  do some crafting to help us mentally and emotionally. At the bottom of my post you will find the names of these awesome group of ladies and links to there blogs that participate in this challenge. Please visit and share some love during this time when we all need a “cyber” hug!

I created my card in the shabby chic style in my favourite colours, cream, pink and green. The cheerful bunnies are part of a new die set I purchased recently and I love them.  They are so happy and to do them justice I layered them on a pastel floral background. The doodling on the die cut bunnies was inspired by a card I saw at sarascloset. I  added  two layers of entwined green circles to frame the happy couple. For a “Spring” feeling I added soft pink roses, leaves and gemstones. I finished of with a marker sign and sentiment.
