Beauty of a Butterfly

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the beautiful theme of “Butterflies”. Butterflies are always a favourite DD_Butterfliestheme for me – maybe it is their lovely colours and elegance. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

My inspiration from the picture was the lovely colours and so I tried to incorporated the yellow, pink, green and black into my card. I used a beautiful designer paper as background, then layered an intricate rose edge die cut on the one side for interest. I used watercolours to paint the butterflies to match the colours of the flowers on the designer paper. I finished off with pearl swirls and a sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Bunny Hop

Hello friends,

Today’s card is for the Cut It Up Challenge with the theme “Hopping Down the Bunny Trail (Easter)”. Actually there is a story behind this card as it is also part of another challenge – so let me explain. As most of us are in isolation, lock-down, quarantine, etc around the world, an awesome group of ladies challenged each other to do a Covid-19 Relief challenge. What a great idea to lift our spirits, get us out of our daily routines and  do some crafting to help us mentally and emotionally. At the bottom of my post you will find the names of these awesome group of ladies and links to there blogs that participate in this challenge. Please visit and share some love during this time when we all need a “cyber” hug!

I created my card in the shabby chic style in my favourite colours, cream, pink and green. The cheerful bunnies are part of a new die set I purchased recently and I love them.  They are so happy and to do them justice I layered them on a pastel floral background. The doodling on the die cut bunnies was inspired by a card I saw at sarascloset. I  added  two layers of entwined green circles to frame the happy couple. For a “Spring” feeling I added soft pink roses, leaves and gemstones. I finished of with a marker sign and sentiment.

Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7-12

Hello friends,

The theme for our last 2019 challenge at Double D Challenges is “Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7-12 ”. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the DD_TwelveDays7-12Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win! This will be my last post before Christmas and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your visits during 2019. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and for my Christian friends, have a Merry Christmas.

My card was inspired by the nine dancers, although I could only fit in three dancers on my card. I layered three Christmas trees on designer paper as background for my ballerinas. The tutus of the ballerinas were embellished with little die cut bows and then the ballerinas were layered with mirror tape to the background for dimension. I then added silver gemstones to create an illusion of falling snowflakes. Each tree was embellished with a silver star and some glitter glue. I finished off with a strip of lace, pink roses and silver cord. The sentiment is cut from silver shimmer card-stock.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Twelve Days of Christmas

Hello friends,

Another Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this DD_TwelfeDaysfortnight is “Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 1-6″. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

I was inspired by Day 2 – Two Turtle Doves and the white, pink and green colours in the inspiration picture. I layered designer paper on pink card-stock and then on a white card base. I added leaves and two die cut crochet lace strips on the top and bottom of the card for interest.  The doves are lifted of the base card with mirror tape for dimension.  The finishing touches are the pink roses (sprinkled with glitter), silver cord bow and pink gemstones.  To matched the silver bow a bold die cut sentiment from silver card-stock was added below the doves. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Christmas – Shabby Chic Style

Hello friends,

A Christmas card for the new challenge at Double D Challenges. The theme for this fortnight is “What is Your Christmas Style”. Do you love Traditional, Modern, Elegant, All DD_ChristmasStyleWhite, Vintage?  Please add what style your card is in your blog post when entering the challenge.  The team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win!

I love the shabby chic style and of course lots of pink and bling for Christmas. I decided to use pink rose designer paper for my background and then layered it on kraft card-stock to add a rustic element. I added a kraft die cut wreath as frame for my reindeer picture. I attached the  wreath with a bow and roses to the leaves and lace border. The wreath is embellished with lots of gemstones and pearls for sparkle. I finished off with a sentiment and silver stars. I love the soft colours and shabby chic/rustic look of this Christmas card.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Jungle Friends

Hello friends,

I hope you are all doing well. Today’s post is about the new challenge at Double D hosted by Team Diane. The theme for this challenge is “It’s A Jungle Out DD_JungleThere” – so let’s see something to do with a jungle. For more information about the challenge and the lovely prize visit the Double D Challenge blog.

For my card I used  two little monkeys as focal point. They are so adorable and it was great fun to put all the die cut parts together to let them come to life. Some die cut leaves and colorful flowers on a pretty floral background give a “jungle” feel to the card. I added the swinging monkeys with mirror tape for dimension. To finish off I added a “Happy birthday” sentiment. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

  • Scrapy Land Challenges #119 (ends 08/28)- Anything Goes with a die cut from a brand that Scrapy Land sells (Dies: PoppyStamps die “Weeping Willow Branch” (Style 2024) — Sizzix Thinlits die set (Tim Holtz Alterations) “Funky Florals #3” (662702) — Sizzix Thinlits die set (Tim Holtz Alterations) “Funky Florals #1” (662700)
