Mason Jar With Roses

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Mason Jars” – DD_MasonJars_Aug4use a mason jar and/or anything you see in the jar on the mood board. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

Now onto the details of my card for the new challenge. I used my colorize bloom dies to create my roses, rose buds and leaves for my floral arrangement . I die cut the flowers and buds from different shades of pink and pale yellow cardstock, colour them with distress inks and then assemble all the small pieces to create depth. The leaves were die cut from two shades of green card-stock, glued together and then distress with ink. The mason jar was stamped on white vellum, cut out, lightly sponged with blue distress ink and then layered on script designer paper. The roses, buds and leaves were layered with mirror tape to add more dimension to the card. For added interest I added a lace strip at the bottom of the card. I finished off with a die cut sentiment from black glitter cardstock and a pink wax cord bow.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

  • Dies R Us Challenge #174 (ends 08/13) – Always Anything Goes with a brand they sell (Dies: Sizzix Thinlits Colorize die “Bloom- Colorize” (665208) — Sizzix Thinlets die “Crochet” (664178) — Sizzix Thinlits die “Script Sentiments” (665089))

Summer Flowers

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Summer DD_SummerGingham_July17Gingham”. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

Now onto the details of my summer card for the new challenge. I used my brushstroke flower dies to created 3 different flowers for my floral arrangement. I die cut the flowers from white cardstock, colour them with distress inks and then assemble all the small pieces to create depth and dimension. I spray the coloured flowers with a little bit of water to get the watercolour effect. While still damp I shaped the leaves to add a little more dimension to the flowers.  The leaves were die cut from two shades of green card-stock, glued together and then distress with ink. The floral arrangement was then layered on pink gingham paper.  I finished off with a die cut sentiment which was die-cut several times from white and pink cardstock to give a raised effect. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

  • Dies R Us Challenge #172 (ends 07/13) – Always Anything Goes with a brand they sell (Dies: Sizzix Thinlits die “Brushstroke flowers #3” (665360) — Sizzix Thinlits die “Brushstroke flowers #2” (665210) — Sizzix Thinlits Colorize die “Bloom, Colorize” (665208) — Impression Obsession sentiment die “Best Wishes” (DIE386-F)

For a list of flowers for each month please visit the Double D Challenge blog. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – so a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I was inspired by the beautiful pink roses in the photo and decided to make a Mother’s Day card for Mum. For the background I used a beautiful designer paper from an Asuka paper pad – I just love this floral wreath! I added pink roses and a variety of die cut leaves on the on side of the wreath. A little birdie and another fancy die cut wreath were place inside the floral wreath as a focal point. I finished off with a die-cut sentiment and a little heart. I really like the shabby outcome of this card.

A Thousand Years To Wait …

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Book Covers”. You can use anything you see on these covers on the inspiration photo: colours – images – words! In your post please tell us what it was that inspired you from the covers. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

I was inspired by the flowers, fine script of the title and the oval shape of the book cover in the top right panel. I used floral designer paper, layered on black card-stock, as background. I die cut a fancy oval from black paper to frame the silver sentiment. I finished off with flowers, rosehip stems, silver leaves, bows and a few grey gemstones. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Valentine Love

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Valentine Love”. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

My inspiration from the picture was the red and black colours and I tried to incorporated these into my card. I used a light green plaid paper as background, then layered the six die cut hearts in a block pattern on the base card. I die cut the hearts from black glitter paper, cream and red cardstock and then swop the centres so that each heart have a contrasting frame. I layered the centres of the hearts with mirror tape for dimension. I also cut additional  leaves to add on the hearts for more colour and interest. I finished off with red roses, gem stone hearts, a die cut lace border and a sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Cupcakes

Hello friends,

Happy New Year to all – wishing you love, health and happiness in 2020. It is also Double D Challenges 5th anniversary and to celebrate we have a beautiful mood board to inspire you. The theme for this anniversary challenge is “Cupcakes”. To be part of our celebration challenge please visit the Double D Challenge blog and see more wonderful samples from Double “D”s talented designers and join in the fun!

I decided on a cream, soft pink and green colour combo for this card. I used a polka dot designer paper as background for my two cupcakes.  The cupcakes were embellished with a candle, rose and a cherry for interest. I then added a large script die cut sentiment and a rose bouquet for a shabby look.  To finish off I added a frame of pink gemstones. I really like the extra bling of the gemstones on the card!

I entered my card in the following challenges:
