Colourful Poppies

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Darlene is hosting this challenge with the theme “Flowers DD_FlowersOfTheMonth_May19of the Month – July thru December”. For a list of flowers for each month please visit the Double D Challenge blog. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.

I was inspired by the bright red poppies in the photo and decided to make a slimline card for this challenge. I stamped the image several times to fill the length of the top layer. I coloured the image with my Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils in bright colours. I then layered the top layer on black cardstock to frame the colourful flower scene.  I finished off with a die-cut sentiment, yellow wax cord bow and a few black butterflies.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

I also added some pink and sliver glitter hearts, rose bouquets and bows.  To frame the hearts I used strips of self-adhesive lace. I finished off with a die cut sentiment. Valentine Love

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges. Team Diane is hosting this challenge with the theme “Valentine Love”. The team have created a bunch of beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile. We have also a fun prize to give away to one lucky player which will be chosen by Random.org.

My inspiration from the picture was the red and black colours and I tried to incorporated these into my card. I used a light green plaid paper as background, then layered the six die cut hearts in a block pattern on the base card. I die cut the hearts from black glitter paper, cream and red cardstock and then swop the centres so that each heart have a contrasting frame. I layered the centres of the hearts with mirror tape for dimension. I also cut additional  leaves to add on the hearts for more colour and interest. I finished off with red roses, gem stone hearts, a die cut lace border and a sentiment.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7-12

Hello friends,

The theme for our last 2019 challenge at Double D Challenges is “Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7-12 ”. The team created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the DD_TwelveDays7-12Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile and as always there is a lovely prize to win! This will be my last post before Christmas and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your visits during 2019. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and for my Christian friends, have a Merry Christmas.

My card was inspired by the nine dancers, although I could only fit in three dancers on my card. I layered three Christmas trees on designer paper as background for my ballerinas. The tutus of the ballerinas were embellished with little die cut bows and then the ballerinas were layered with mirror tape to the background for dimension. I then added silver gemstones to create an illusion of falling snowflakes. Each tree was embellished with a silver star and some glitter glue. I finished off with a strip of lace, pink roses and silver cord. The sentiment is cut from silver shimmer card-stock.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

Rustic Hearts

Hello friends,

Valentine’s day is around the corner and with that in mind we have a new challenge for DD_Heartsyou at Double D Challenges. To celebrate this day of love our theme is “Hearts”. The mood board is so pretty, I am sure you will find lots of inspiration to create a card for the Double D challenge.

I love the rustic and shabby look of the hearts, the neutral colors and the textures in the inspiration picture. With that in mind I decided to create my card with kraft paper for a rustic look. I added a piece of burlap on the base layer for texture and then a pretty trellis and heart die cut. I lifted some of the hearts with mirror tape for dimension. I added some pearls, flowers and wax cord  bows as embellishments. The final touch is a die cut sentiment. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:
