A Delicate Flutter …

Hello friends,

When I saw the butterfly from the Spellbinders Die D’Lites “Flutter Love” set I immediately remembered the delicate oval die from the Spellbinders Nestabilities Majestic Elements ‘Radiant Rectangles” die set – it just matches the beautiful wings of the butterfly. For the vintage look lovers I used soft pink designer paper from BoBunny “Madeleine Collection” as background. A Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D’Lites “Sprigs” is layered between the ovals to accentuate the butterfly. There is nothing outstanding about this card but for sure it was a creative journey to mix and match Spellbinders dies and to use the old and new ones together. You can see more creative ways to use your Spellbinders dies at Hope & Chances Creativity where Christine will inspire you with her beautiful creations.

Challenges:

  • Scrapy Land Challenges #11 (ends 02/15) – Anything Goes using any brand of die Scrapy Land sells (Dies: Spellbinders Die D’Lites “Flutter Love”, Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D’Lites “Sprigs” and Spellbinders Nestabilities Majestic Elements ‘Radiant Rectangles”)

Sending My Love

Hello friends,

Another card with a vintage feel, featuring my favourite colours pink and green, as guest designer at Hope & Chances Creativity. I used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Front die “Floral” to create a delicate background for the lovely rose vintage scrap from Graphic45. I just love this die, it is so versatile for vintage, shabby and whimsical cards. A rose and a butterfly are also stunning on a card for me, so I added a butterfly from the Spellbinders D’Lites “Flutter Love” die set. I made a template of the die cut by tracing the outlines of the butterfly and sponged the layers with distress inks to match the colours of the rose. The banner and sentiment is from the JustRite stamp set “Timely Banners”. I was delighted when the banner perfectly slided onto the image. I cut little slits round the rosebud so that it pops up on the banner.

A Floral Frame …

Hello friends,

My second card for Christine’s blog, Hope & Chances Creativity , features the beautiful Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Fronts die set “Floral”. I decided to add a vintage look to the card by trimming away the floral background to create a delicate frame for the vintage scrap from Graphic 45. I was so pleased with the outcome as it gives so much depth to the picture of the adorable girl in the garden. I also added some tiny butterflies from the Spellbinders Die D’Lites “Flutter Love”.

Be My Valentine

Hello friends,

I have some exciting news to share today – I have the privilege to be a guest at Christine Emberson’s blog Hope & Chances Creativity. Christine is the International Ambassador for Spellbinders in the United Kingdom. Last year Christine contacted me and asked if I am willing to create a card for her blog to show how Spellbinders dies are used around the world. Who will ever say no to such an invitation? She send me two stunning Spellbinders die sets and I created 5 cards for her blog. Please visit Hope & Chances Creativity to read Christine’s view about the cards and also to see her creativity with Spellbinders dies. It is amazing to see her wonderful creations and tips on how to use these dies. I created five separate blog posts to show the cards and this will be posted during today.

My first card is a Valentine’s card created with the Spellbinders die set ‘Flutter Love’. The “heart window” in the top layer was cut with a Spellbinders D’Lites die “Vines of Passion” to frame the lovely heart shape. I added some pearls around the edge for a vintage look. The lace stamp is from Stampendous and the sentiment stamp from Penny Black. The designer papers are from Prima “Stationer’s Desk”

I would like to enter the card in the following challenges:

Best Wishes …

Hello friends,

I created this card in the shabby chic style for the challenge at The Card Concept. To celebrate their One Year Anniversary with them they gave this beautiful 26-One Year Celebrationinspirational picture to use. The pink flowers on the white, with the hint of blue in the background caught my eye and I took this as inspiration for my card. I started off with a layer I created with pink distress inks to create a watercolor effect as background. I then added a lattice layer to give more dimension to the hanging sign board and flower arrangement. The flowers are chosen for their different shades of pink as portrayed in the picture. Some aqua pearls and white stamens complete the card. I listed the dies I used in the project details at the end of the post. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following 3 challenges:

  • The Card Concept Challenge #26 (ends 01/19) – Happy One Year Anniversary (Shabby Chic Style)
  • Try It On Tuesdays Challenge (ends 01/20) – My Favourite Things (I love my flowers and dies)
  • Scrapy Land Challenges #9 (ends 01/21) – Anything Goes using any brand of die Scrapy Land sells. (Spellbinders Shapeabilities “Fancy Lattice” ; Spellbinders die D’Lites “Sentiments One” and Impression obsession die  “Heart Flourish 126-U”)

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing …

Hello friends,

Greeting you from a very hot summer day in South Africa. Today I am posting my last project for the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge blog as it is the closing challenge for this vintage/shabby blog. I joined the design team in November 2012 and what a wonderful creative journey it was. Thank you Cec and the wonderful design team ladies I worked with – I am going to miss you all. The theme for the last challenge is “No cards”  – the Design team would love to see gifts, home decor, altered items, etc. in the vintage or shabby chic style.

I made some Christmas ornaments with angel images for decorating my tree this year. For the baubles I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities “Standard Circles Small”  and added  flourishes to the top and bottom of each bauble. The bottom flourish is a Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D-Lites “Corner Flourish” and the top one from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities  “Lace Hearts” set. For embellishments I added paper roses, a crystal bead and lots of glitter.

Wings

Hello blog friends,

Sharing with you today is my guest designer card for the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge blog. What a wonderful opportunity to be featured on such a lovely challenge blog – thanks so much Sheryl and the Fussy and Fancy design team  for inviting me. The card is for the featured guest designer post for Challenge #116 – Things with Wings.

I chose a resin angel from Prima and two butterflies as my “things with wings”. The background is an awesome Spellbinders D-Lites die  “Gilded Gate 2” – I love the way it matches up with the resin angel. The lovely flowers is a mixture of a Prima rose and two Petaloo flowers from their Botanica Mini Flower collection. The Whimsy stamp “Celebration pennants” is a goldie but still one of my favourite sentiment stamps.
