Me and My Best Friend

Hi everyone,

And it’s Sunday evening again … unbelievable how time flies before we start a new week tomorrow. I have a card for you today in peach and green colours as this is the challenge over at the Lili of the Valley Challenge blog this week. I love this stamp from Lili of the Valley as one can create a sort of tranquil scene. Hope I succeed in doing that! A new addition to my stamp collection is the postage stamp sentiments from Whimsy Stamps. I received these beauties from Bunny Zoe’s Crafts online store and the service is absolutely excellent –  worthwhile a visit for South African crafters as the shipping costs is minimal. I’m currently working on a few projects for May (will keep this as a surprise) but hopefully I can fit in another card for this week.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

I used the following to create the card:

  • Lili of the Valley stamp “Swing Time”
  • Whimsy Postage stamp sentiment
  • Whimsy Postage stamp die
  • Go Kreate dies “XXL Square Frame Frilly #1” (No 360021)
  • Marianne Design Creatables “LR0151”
  • Martha Stewart punch “Deco Fans”
  • TowBow pens for colouring
  • Ribbon
  • Paper roses
  • White, peach and green cardstock
  • Designer paper

Thanks for visiting today – hope you have the time to leave a comment so that I can come visit you too. Have a wonderful week and keep crafting.

Roses For You

Hello friends,

Today is a public holiday in South Africa – Human Rights Day – and what a perfect day in Pretoria, a clear blue sky with large, white clouds appearing on the horizon. Expecting a thunderstorm this afternoon but not complaining as we need the rain to get us through the dry, dusty winter months on the Highveld. I received my new Penny Black stamps from the Spring 2011 catalogue from 1-2-3 Stitch last week and if you are a regular visitor to my blog you know how fond I am of these stamps. Today’s card feature a gorgeous lady and not a critter as usual. The reason why I bought this stamp is because I  admire her skinny, long legs and the waistline – wow – to die for. Wish I was twenty again! The lace is from a dear friend in Cape Town, Sharon and I love it. If you have time, a visit to Sharon’s Kardz Korner is a feast for the eye.

As this is a large stamp I created the card in a different way than a usually 15 x 15cm card. I cut my card 13 x 15cm and positioned the image layer 2 cm above the card edge.  This way the card still fits into a 15 x 15cm envelope and does not appear to be cluttered. Hope I make sense as I am not good at explaining things. Hope you like the card.

Enjoy a wonderful week and I would love to know what you think about my card. Happy crafting

Halloween Bling

Hello everyone,

Time for another great challenge at For Fun Challenges this week. The challenge is to create a Halloween card but the twist is to use no orange on your card. I used  free digital stamps for my card. The “Witch Feet” image is from Bugaboo Stamps and the sentiment “Best Witches Hat” from Robin’s Artful Musings. The image was coloured with black, lime green and purple Tombow pens and I added silver Stickles and purple gemstones on the shoe buckles and hat for a little bit of bling. For a sparkle in the eye I also added Silver Stickles to the little spiders. I must say I like the fashionable shoes and stockings, maybe the fashion gurus will describe it as a fashion disaster!

I entered my card for the following challenges:

I used the following to create the card:

  • Bugaboo Stamps freebie “Witch feet”
  • Robin’s Artful Musings freebie “Best Witches Hat”
  • Black, lime green and purple cardstock
  • Silver mesh
  • Purple gemstones
  • Spider confetti
  • Silver Stickles
  • Black organza ribbon
  • Tombow pens for colouring
  • Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades “Cracked” for background

Hope to see your Halloween card at For Fun Challenges this week. Enjoy the rest of the week and happy crafting.
