Gingerbread Baby

Hello everyone,

For Fun Challenges is sponsored this week by The Stamp Fairy. They have some really gorgeous images in store and also some freebies to try out before you buy. The Stamp Fairy sponsored prize for this challenge is 3 digital images of the winner’s choice. To be eligible to win the prize at For Fun the challenge is to create a non-traditional shaped card and maybe you can win the prize– think out of the box and experiment with shapes. The card must not be square or A2 size, but can be round, star, triangle, business sized envelope etc. I decided on a three-fold concertina card and cut away a diagonal section running from the edge of the first panel to midway down the end panel. My image  is “Gingerbread Babies Candy Canes” kindly sponsored by The Stamp Fairy. I used a A4 paper and my Crafter’s Companion to fold the card. To decorate the diagonal section I punched leaves with my Martha Stewart punch and added red pearls for berries to form a wreath.

I entered my card for the following challenges:

I used the following to create the card:

  • White and green cardstock
  • Queen of Hearts Designer paper “Gingham”
  • The Stamp Fairy digi image “Gingerbread Babies Candy Cane”
  • Inkadinkado clear stamp sentiment60-30271  “Joy”
  • Derwent Color Soft pencils
  • Odourless mineral spirits
  • Red pearls
  • Martha Stewart punch “Oak Leaf”
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities “Circles and Scalloped Circles”
  • Stickles “Icicle”

The talented ladies at For Fun Challenges had, yet again, created some stunning projects for inspiration. Please visit and take part in the fun – we would love to see your card at For Fun Challenges blog this week.

Have a wonderful week.

Greetings from a (very) warm South Africa,

Hello everyone,

This week’s challenge at For Fun Challenges blog is to make a mini book. The mini book can represent anything, from a small photo album or a feel better card. At first I thought I will not be able to do this but then remembered the inspirational quote of Theodore Roosevelt “It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.” With this in mind, I started right away; carefully following the instructions, made sure the measurements were correct and let the creative energy flows to decorate the pages. (Thanks, Helen for the tutorial to put the mini book together. The instructions are here) As the mini book is only 5 cm high and the width 8 cm, careful planning was necessary to fit everything in. As I was inspired by a quote I decided that the theme for the booklet must be filled with inspirational quotes from various people – this was computer generated in different types of fonts. I chose my favourite autumn colours for the leaves and other embellishments. So here is the little fella:

The mini book is closed with two tiny tassels and I also made a small envelobox.

Some of the pages

I used the following:

  • Brown cardstock
  • Great Impressions (South Africa) stamp B588 “Leaf”
  • Si Designs by Amanda (South Africa) stamp Si949 “Corner  Stamp”
  • PS stamp o83 “Inspire”
  • Twinkling H2O (Spiced pumpkin, Orange peel, Chestnut brown) for colouring the leaves
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink “Vintage photo”
  • VersaMagic Archival Multi-surface chalk ink pad “Jumbo Java”
  • SAG Gold embossing powder
  • Red and orange thread
  • Ultimate Crafters Companion Pro for the envelobox

This is really a fun project with lots of scope for creativity. Hope to see your mini book at For Fun Challenges this week. Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of the week.

Greetings from South Africa,

Bears – All White

I really love bears – they got something special about them and collecting bears is one of my passions in life. Maybe that is why making cards for the Just Cute Bear Challenge is also one of my favourite thing to do each week. One of the bears in my collection inspired me to create this envelobox for the Just Cute Bears Challenge #8 – All white. I decided on an envelobox because I need something to present a money/gift voucher  for a baby shower in April. This is the front of the envelobox:

I created the envelobox with the Ultimate Crafters Companion Pro, the embossing was done with a Sissix embossing folder “Flourishes, Floral” and the oval die cut with a Spellbinders nestie. The stamp is from BRS (Best Rubber Stamps, South Africa) 798K – unfortunately they don’t have a website. For the sweater and wing I used Polar White Flower Soft and coloured the image with Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils. Other embellishments: pearls, pearl hearts , lace, ribbon and Diamond Stickels for the halo. I also embellished the back of the envelobox:

And here is the little angel bear from my collection that inspired me:

I can’t remember how this fellow landed up in my collection but I named him Baby Boyds “Little Thumb”. He is from The Boyds Collection, USA (c1988-2003).

Looking forward to the next challenge and thanks for visiting my blog.

Greetings from South Africa.
