Brand New Bicycle

Hello friends,

Wishing you all of the best for 2014, may it be a great year. At Sugar Creek Hollow we are back with a new challenge this fortnight and the theme is “Something New”. We would love to see your projects using new supply or a new technique but your creation must be either in the vintage or shabby chic style (or a combination of both). Make sure you describe your “something new”.

Usually I spend too much money on new crafting stuff but it is always such fun to use all the new items for the first time. I decided on my Memory Box die “Brand new bicycle”, my new Prima paper pack “Delight” and a Stampendous stamp “Elegant borders”  to put this card together. I so love  the lacy touch of the “Elegant borders” stamp  on the Prima paper, as background for the bicycle. The bunting was made with my Whimsy Shapeology “Banner pennant die set” – not new but still so useful. Hope you like my shabby take on this challenge.

Special Delivery

Hello dear blog friends,

I enjoyed it so much making this card this weekend. Apart from  using a Penny Black stamp, I just love the bright pink and green colours. The paper roses and rosebuds are from Wild Orchid Crafts as this is one of my projects as guest designer for the month of May. As the challenge at Penny Black at Allsorts  and Totally Gorguss is to create a shaped card I decided on this lovely Go Kreate die “Frilly Frame” for the card.  This Penny Black stamp always fasinates me as I can see the detemination on the faces of the two little mice on top of the planters to delivery their letter – isn’t it cute?  Glad it isn’t me who is hanging between heaven and earth – I am so scared of heights! I also added the little banner, made with a Whimsy banner pennant die set, to give a cheerful and special feeling to the card.

I created the card for the following challenges:

The banner/bunting

 The roses

The inside decorated with a banner/bunting too

I used the following to create the card;

  • White and green cardstock
  • Penny Black stamp “Surprise!”  (1649K)
  • Prima Designer Paper Sweet Fairy Collection “Rosebud”
  • Whimsy banner pennant die set
  • Marianne Design Creatables “Leaves” LR0151
  • Martha Stewart border punch “Garden trellis”
  • Go Kreate XXL die Frilly #2 (No 380002) for shaped card
  • Guipere lace available from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Paper roses and buds available from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Wax cord
  • Tim Holtz distress ink “Peeled Paint”
  • Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle and Derwent Inktense water colour pencils for colouring

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting today. Hope you enjoy looking at my card as much as I had fun in making it.

Happy crafting.

Regards from South Africa,

Thanks a Bunch

Hello everyone,

Today I am posting a card I made for the Penny Black Circle Challenge. The challenge is to create a thank you card using Penny Black stamps. I chose one of my new stamps from the spring catalogue “Scented garden” and a sentiment stamp from the clear stamp set “Betsy Bluebell”. I made the pennants with a Whimsy die and the little butterflies is punched with a Martha Stewart punch “Pop-up butterflies”. The old-fashioned flocked paper forget-me-not flowers I’ve ordered from my favourite Etsy shop, 32 Degrees North Supplies. Beware, if you visit your bank account is in big danger, they’ve got beautiful crafting stuff! And here is my card, hope you like it:

I used the following to create the card:

  • White cardstock
  • K and Company Designer paper
  • Penny Black stamp “Scented Garden” (4133J)
  •  Penny Black sentiment stamp from Betsy Bluebell clear stamp set
  • Whimsy Pennants die
  • Waxed cord
  • Martha Stewart punch “Pop-up butterflies”
  • Martha Stewart punch “Doily Lace”
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities “Ovals”
  • Skwiglues “Sweet pink”
  • Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle and Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils
  • Old fashioned flocked paper forget-me-not flowers

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend and happy crafting.
