Christmas in July

Hello friends,

It is a pleasure to share my post today as the guest designer at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog. I have this honour following to be the Top Pick for the “Tickled Pink!” challenge recently. You can see my winning entry here. Thank you Funkie Junkie design team for asking me to join the  new challenge as a featured guest designer – your challenges always inspires me. The theme of the current challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog is “Christmas in July”.

I decided to make a shabby card in non-traditional Christmas colours.  I added two layers of designer paper to the base card to create depth. The different layers were distressed with a distress tool and then aged with distress ink.

ReindeerShabby1

I chose a lovely deer die cut as my focal point and decorated it with a wreath, a tiny bow and rose bud.

To add some texture I used a strip of vintage lace to the bottom and a string of pearls to the top of the card. I covered a die cut music note border strip with gold texture paste and layered it on the lace.

I added a die cut sentiment, a few pearls and a flower bouquet for more interest.

A close up of the  leaves, flowers and wax cord bow.

I always like to decorate the inside of my cards with some of the elements featured on the outside. For this card I repeat the music note border, leaves and pearls at the bottom of the card inside.
