Hello again stamping friends,
I love the colour challenge at The Play Date Cafe this week – silver and shades of blue and pink. Although it is such a fabulous colour combination and a personal favourite, I struggled the whole afternoon to complete the card and it nearly ended up in the dustbin out of frustration! I think you know about that bad card days – the bow is just a bow and not a pretty bow, the image is in the center but a little bit to high or to low and the end product is okay but not what your picture. But anyway I completed the card and must admit that making the flowers was fun. I saw this Spellbinders flower tutorial at Becca Feeken’s blog. Instead of using the lacey circles I used the standard circles small. Mine is not nearly as pretty as Becca’s but practice makes perfect – next time I hope mine will be a knock-out! The layout of the card is based on a sketch by Bev for The Wild Orchid Challenge #20. The image is from a local company, Best Rubber Stamps (BRS) and a golden oldie in my collection.
I entered my card for the following challenges:
- The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC#75 (ends 04/07) – Silver, Pink and Blue
- Wild Orchid Challenges #20 (ends 04/10) – A Sketch by Bev
- Really Reasonable Ribbon’s Ramblings Challenge #21 (ends 04/13) – Use Dies or Punches & Ribbon
- Card Makin’ Mamas Challenge #18 (ends 04/16) – Embellish It!
- Creative Belli Challenge #114 (ends 04/11) – Think seamstress! (I used seam binding, silver cord and pins)
- Charisma Cardz Challenge #13 (ends 04/06) – Bling and Sparkles
- Paper Sundaes Challenge #63 (ends 04/10) – Spring Blossoms
- Allsorts Challenge #Week 97 (ends 04/08) – Blooming Blossoms
And I managed to capture all the glitz and glimmer:
Supplies I used for this card:
- White, pink and blue cardstock
- Prima Designer paper (Shabby Chic Collection) “Sweets”
- BRS (Best Rubber Stamps) South Africa 270L
- Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp
- Pearls
- Seam binding
- Silver cord
- Pearls
- Cuttlebug embossing folder “Scrollworks”
- Spellbinders Nestabilities “Lacey Circles” and “Standard Circles Small”
- Fancy pins (own creation)
- Stickles “Silver”
- Lyra-Rembrandt Aquarelle watercolour pencils
I’m so happy you’ve decided to visit today, please leave a comment so that I can come visit too. Have a wonderful week and happy crafting.
Greetings from South Africa,
Amelia

It’s absolutely beautiful Amelia! Making flowers is not an easy task and it takes awhile to get the hang of it but this doesn’t look like you need practice, they are gorgeous. Love the decorated pins, the stickles around the edges and the silver cord entwined through the scallops. So elegant! “Hugs” Carol

Stunning, Amelia! I sympathise with the struggling issue, but you got it so right, it’s beautiful. Your flowers are great – so what’s with the practice??
Well done and good luck with the challenge.
