Black and White

Hello friends,

A new challenge starts today at Double D Challenges  and we are still celebrating our one year anniversary. Team Darlene is hosting january-2017this challenge with the lovely theme of “Black and White”. Looking at the beautiful inspiration picture I decided to join in the fun. I just want to remind you that the anniversary celebration continues with this challenge and the team have created beautiful cards to inspire you – a visit to the Double D Challenge blog will be worthwhile.  Keep in mind you can still join in the second half of celebrating with us and stand a chance to win fabulous prizes!

It is also time to announce the winner of the Memory Box prize that I offered for celebration of our first anniversary at Double D Challenges.

The name of the lucky winner that was drawn from the hat is:
Petra L (Pleasure by Peet)

Congratulations Petra L – I will email you directly, notifying you of this win! Please be sure to email me back with your postal address and I will send out your prize as quickly as I can.

Many thanks to all of you that participated and leaving a comment. I wish I could give a prize to everyone!

My inspiration from the mood board for this challenge is the butterflies and patterns on the cushions. I chose the background paper and edge die cut to represent the stripes and patterns on the cushions. The top panel with the lace edge is lifted of the main card with mirror tape to give the card dimension. I added fluttering butterflies and finished off with a die cut sentiment and black pearl strings. Usually I love to use lots of color on my card so this black and white creation was  a challenge for me. It is really difficult to make an interesting and eye-catching card with just two colors. I would love to see your take on the challenge.

I entered my card in the following challenges:

blackandwhite

The butterflies and patterned background paper

A close-up of the sentiment and lace edge

Project details:

Black and white card-stock ; Designer background paper ; Crealies dies ‘Butterflies” (Set No. 5) ; Marianne Design Creatables “Lace border” (LR0396) ; Spellbinders die D-Lites “Sentiments Three” (S2-139) ; Pearl strings

I hope you enjoy today´s card. If you do, please share your thoughts in the comments. I love to read them! Have a wonderful day and have fun creating beautiful things.

Regards,

Amelia

Your card is most definitely interesting and eye catching, Amelia, so I’d say you aced this challenge. It’s fun to stretch yourself now and then, which is what a challenge is all about, I guess. It was a stretch for me, too, as I do love color. However, just look how crisp and beautiful your card is! It’s been fun to see all the different black and white takes on the mood board. I always look forward to the tantalizing little peek you give at the inside. Congratulations to Petra!

Striking card. I love how you broke up the pp with the die cut and added the white butterflies.
